Self-isolation needn’t mean self-denial
If you’re having to spend more time at home because of the current Coronavirus pandemic, why not think about making yours a smart home?
The global pandemic has changed people’s lives in a dramatic way and many people in the UK are having to self-isolate, either own their own or with their families. While in happier circumstances, spending time with our families while in happier circumstances, spending time with our families would be welcome; at the moment it might feel less so as we contemplate not leaving our homes for the coming weeks or months until the problem is over.
With the rapid advances in smart home technology, now would be a good time to think about using some of these new technologies to make your life easier and more enjoyable. There are many products you can install easily and affordably to transform your home entertainment and living. Let’s look at one major development in home entertainment.

Whether you want a super slim screen TV, or a complete home cinema experience, we can make sure you get the best seats in the house.
The quality of picture and sound with these new products is really quite extraordinary and it really does bring the experience into the home. Innovations such as the Denon HEOS sound systems, which deliver immersive audio, can be genuinely described as ‘awesome’.
There are some positives coming out of the current pressures cause by the pandemic. A decision by Universal Pictures means that, as part of their response to these issues, Sky UK will join Comcast in the USA, and a “variety of on-demand services” to release new films at the same time as they become available in the cinema.
Normally, there tends to be a wait of at least three months (90 days) before new cinema releases become available on broadband-based video streaming platforms, although there are of course exceptions for those movies that are created or purchased by the streaming companies themselves, such as Netflix.
Once you have the home cinema installed, you can stream to your heart’s content, depending on who your providers are. These days there is enormous choice in movies, entertainment and sport and the only challenge you will have is who gets to hold the remote control!
Of course, if you and your family are spending a lot more time at home, it is tempting to binge on your viewing, so it’s important to take time out for some much needed fresh air and exercise in the garden and maybe put some of those planting and landscaping projects you’ve seen on TV into action.
