Client Rating

When our client said that they wanted to have that true cinema feeling in the comfort of their own home, we truly brought our A Game to this project.

Teamed up with a bar and games area to the back of the room, our clients could still enjoy their favourite film whilst entertaining guests with a tipple or two.

With plenty of seating for their family and guests, smart lighting and controls, and wrapped in luxurious fabrics, this room really does have the wow factor.

To kick off the process, we created a 3D render of how the room would look and presented this to the client, giving them 3 options that would work with the layout of the room and speaker positions. Following the design consultation, and having settled on the layout of the room, we got to work preparing the room for the installation.

To give our clients the best viewing positions, we created a podium, complete with LED lighting to ensure that viewers can still see what they’re doing when they’re moving around the room during movie time.

The customers advised that they would like an area at the back of the room for games and a bar, so we needed to create a sound wall to ensure that the front of the room could still enjoy better than movie quality sound while others might be entertaining at the back of the room. We created an acoustic sound barrier at the back of the podium to ensure no loss of sound and adhere to CEDIA’s RP-22 and Dolby Atmos guidelines. We installed a Sony 55” TV behind the wall which links up with what’s playing up front, so nobody misses out on the action!

This cinema room needed to sound epic, so we opted for Procella speakers, with at bed level for Left, Centre and Right surround sound as well as Atmos channels, with SVS SB3000 subwoofers in a 5.1.4 formation. All this sound is powered by an Anthem ampilifer and Emotiva processor, with speakers all hidden away within the sound wall and pillars, covered in fabric, and processing tucked away in a Sanus rack discreetly placed within the room.

For visuals, we installed a drop-down tab-tensioned screen, paired with a Sony VPL-VW790 Laser Projector.

The room has various lighting arrangements, including a coffer ceiling, integrated LED strip lights, podium lights and spotlights around the perimeter of the ceiling, all controlled via Rako – our go-to for controlling scenes for different activities and moods. For shading, the customer wanted to retain their fabric curtains and ensure that they were incorporated in the design, so we installed Q-Motion curtain tracks alongside Q-Motion blinds for full integration.

Everything in this room is completed automated, from blinds and curtains, to lighting scenes and even a pre-set for watching movies. URC made this all possible, with the clients opting for a 7” screen in the bar area, a handheld remote control, and use of the mobile phone app.
